SPORTS AND FACILITIES

Permanent sports in the centre: Biathlon, Boxing, Greco-Roman Wrestling, and Short Track Speed skating

Sport facilities: The U.S. Olympic Education Center is one of four Olympic Training Centers in the United States, others are located in Colorado Springs (Colorado), Lake Placid (New York) and Chula Vista (California). Short track speed skaters train on an international size ice sheet 100 x 200 at the Berry Events Center. Weight training takes place in the world s largest wooden dome NMUs Superior Dome. Boxing and Greco-Roman Gymnasiums are currently under construction inside the 5.1 acre dome. Biathlon uses arranged facilities in the cities of Marquette and Ishpeming. Other facilities include additional gymnasiums, swimming pool, racquetteball courts, an indoor turf field, and outdoor fields.

Support services: USOC Sports Medicine Services provided as well as optional support from Dr. John Lehtinen, Marquette General Hospital, and NMU Exercise Science

Studies arranged, available for athletes in the centre or externally: Northern Michigan University undergraduate and graduate degrees available on campus or through distance learning. NMU Jacobetti Center provides vocational education. Marquette Senior High School provides educational opportunities for high school athletes
